Sahitya Vibhag serves as a vital bridge between the Hindi–Urdu literary community in New England and the timeless richness of Hindi–Urdu literature. As one of the core departments of Hindi Manch, it is dedicated to celebrating, nurturing, and promoting literary expression across Hindi, Urdu, and related dialects.
Through a variety of thoughtfully curated programs—including Sahitya Sammelans, Mushairas, and Sahityik Goshthis—the Vibhag brings the beauty of language, poetry, and storytelling to the community.
Our Programs
Sahityik Goshthis
Held throughout the year, these intimate literary gatherings take place in local community spaces such as public libraries. Goshthis provide a welcoming platform where literature lovers can come together to share and celebrate creative expression. Participants present their own or others’ works—ranging from stories, memoirs, skits, geet, ghazals, and poetry—in a warm and interactive setting.
Hindi Sahitya Sammelan
The annual Sahitya Sammelan is a grand celebration of literature, hosted on a larger stage in an auditorium or theatre setting. This event brings together local poets, writers, and performers, who present their original works—poetry, sher, ghazals, and geet—to a wide and appreciative audience.
A special highlight introduced this year is “Sahitya Ka Gyaan, Khojen Hindi Vidvaan”, an engaging Hindi language quiz designed to make literature interactive and accessible. This initiative adds a new dimension to the Sammelan by combining learning with entertainment, especially for younger audiences.
